Venezuelan consul robbed in Dominican Republic
DR1.com - The Venezuelan consul in Haiti was the target of an armed robbery as he made his way from Haiti to Las Americas International Airport on Monday to take a flight to Panama, as reported in Diario Libre. Marcos Villegas was robbed on the Carretera Sanchez, near Yaguate in San Cristobal. As reported he was intercepted in his Honda CRV by a group of four armed men who stole an undisclosed amount of money, his luggage and jewels. He was abandoned in the cane field near the Caei sugar mill off the southwestern highway.

Diario Libre reports that police investigators are on the trail of the assailants.
