Acento.com.do - The Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium in the Dominican Republic reported that it he has been assaulted twice in less than a month at his home in Perla Marina - Cabarete, by hooded individuals with firearms that have carted off with goods and have opened the safe.

Further more the same week, in the same Perla Marina thiefs broke in to a villa belonging to an American and stole all his valuables.
"The police so far has been very slow and inefficient, as these events occur almost daily for a month throughout the area."
The diplomat warned that his country could issue a warning to its citizens stating "Do not travel to the Dominican Republic," if the authorities are not implemented security measures to curb crimes in tourist areas before the seasons of foreing visitors begins.
In this case Dominican Watchdog had to translate Spanish articles as local English media was afraid of running the story!
Marcos Villegas was robbed on the Carretera Sanchez, near Yaguate in San Cristobal. As reported he was intercepted in his Honda CRV by a group of four armed men who stole an undisclosed amount of money, his luggage and jewels......
