DominicanToday.com - Puerto Rico agents yesterday detained a Dominican national while driving a pickup truck on the avenue Isla Verde, with more than one million dollars stuffed in three suitcases.
The suspect identified as Manuel del Rosario y, 53, is accused of trying to bribe Puerto Rican Police agents with half of the loot in exchange for his release.
San Juan Police regional director Juan Sergio Rubín revealed that when the agents stopped del Rosario for driving his truck with windows tinted darker than Puerto Rico law allows, the first words he uttered were: "if you let me go free I’ll give you half a million dollars."
He official said del Rosario admitted picking up the suitcases with the money in the town Castaño, where he as offered 10,000 dollars to deliver them to unnamed individuals in the subdivision Carolina.
He added that the Dominican owns an ice cream shop in the sector Barrio Obrero, in Santurce, and that the Drugs Enforcement Administration (DEA) is in charge of the investigation. |
