Plastic surgeon jailed and his clinic shuttered in Dominican Republic
DominicanToday.com - Johan Tapia Bueno, accused of medical malpractice, was incarcerated yesterday in the jail of the Ciudad Nueva Courthouse, after National District prosecutor Alejandro Moscoso interrogated him for more than one hour.
It’s the first time in recent history where a plastic surgeon is jailed and his clinic shuttered.
Bienvenida Hernandez, Sandra Betances, Miguelina Escobar and Rosario Garcia had filed charges against the doctor in the Office of the Prosecutor, alleging collateral damages from cosmetic surgeries he conducted.
The Dominican Plastic Surgeons Association said Tapia isn’t registered in that organization.
Yesterday the Public Health Ministry closed the clinic Brazil, where plastic and aesthetic surgeries were conducted without adherence to sanitary norms and without the corresponding certification.

Happens all the time, the good doctors won´t hire anesthesiogists, qualified nurses, probably don´t use autoclaves to sterilize instruments because la luz... etc etc.
There was another case lately about that Afro American girl who passed is a clinic in San Cristobal. The case was buried together with the victim, as happens too often, because the CMD is too busy organizing strikes to police their own members.

He had several querellas against him, so why jump now? Ohhhh, a TV personality was hurt... Ok, I understand.
Anyone planning a vist with a Dominican Plastic Surgeon, please do your homework. All those pretty "CERTIFICATES" on the office wall can be bought for a few pesos from a number of printshops. Lots of fraud amongst the medical and lawyer/legal communities in the DR. Not everyone is actually what they portray to be. Do your homework carefully. Yes, there are a few exceptional Doctors in the DR.
