DominicanToday.com - The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) arrested another tobacco businessman allegedly linked to a drug trafficking ring that shipped narcotics to Europe, for the 419 kilos of pure cocaine seized recently at East Haina Port in a container headed to Spain.
The DNCD said Cesar Teófilo Soriano Salazar, 50, owner of the swank cigar bar "Don Cesar Cafe & Boutique," located on Mejía Ricart Avenue, was arrested during a search in his residence, in the upscale sector Arroyo Hondo.
In a statement, DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebrón said Soriano is the third suspect arrested in connection with the case thus far. “That person was arrested for being linked to that network and will be handed over to the Justice Ministry for processing."
The cocaine was seized Wednesday in container CMAU-006437-6, transferred from the community Palmarejo, Villa González, where it was allegedly packed by Luis Antonio Reyes Colon, owner of the company L & R Cigars, also being held in the case. Also arrested was Domingo Villa Henríquez, Soriao’s alleged customs agent. |
