NYPD Policeman who led double life as a thug is jailed for 20 years
A policeman who was leading a double life as a thug - beating up drug dealers to pay his mortgage - has been jailed for 20 years.

NYPD officer Jorge Arbaje-Diaz told a court that he turned to a life of crime so that he could make the payments on his house.

The Dominican Republic native, who moved to the U.S. when he was 19,  joined the NYPD in 2005 as a transit cop.

The 33-year-old then joined a violent robbery crew who targeted drug dealers, torturing them to hand over their money, and was fired from the force after he pleaded guilty in May last year.

He was caught after his crew stole 750 kilograms of cocaine and $4 Million from drug dealers and then resold the drugs, according to prosecutors.

Brooklyn Federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis told him in court when passing down his sentence: 'The idea that he was motivated by a variable-rate mortgage puts us in the world of the absurd.

'Mr Arbaje-Diaz, you are the poster boy for a sentence that will deter others from doing the acts you engaged in.'

According to the New York Daily News, defence lawyer Priya Chaudhry tried to win sympathy for his client in sentencing papers that, in part, blamed the pay that city cops take home.

She wrote: 'Jorge was shocked to see that this house his family loved quickly became something he could not afford on his NYPD salary.

'There seemed no way out until one day the Devil appeared on his shoulder in a barbershop.'

Prosecutor Jeremy Shockett noted that Arbaje-Diaz participated in half a dozen robberies, including one while in uniform and on duty, and another in which a child was held at gunpoint.

He said: 'Some would say he had the American Dream ... and he threw that away in extraordinary fashion.'

Arbaje-Diaz told the judge it was difficult even for him to figure out how 'a person educated in morals' could make such bad choices, saying: 'I got carried away by the reckless character of youth.'

This Dominican idiotic "super cop" even posted a picture of himself on facebook with the cash in his hand!!

Dominican Watchdog Note: How come that "Disgraced New York City police officer from Transit District 11 in the Bronx Jorge Arbaje-Diaz has been sentenced to 20 years in prison" and out of 5000 fired from the Dominican police last year for drugs and other crimes hardly none of them went to jail. That can only be because the top of the Dominican government is involved in these crimes. In civilized countries police and military personel are send to jail for even basic criminal activitiy.
