DominicanToday.com  - Juan Hubieres, the head of a nationwide association of bus owners whose constant strikes have claimed the lives of innocent people, and whose mere threats of stoppages strike fear in Government officials, will be the Deputy of the town Bayaguana, Monte Plata province (east).

Moreover, Rosendo Arsenio Borges, the director of the Dominican Port Authority during the Hipolito Mejia Presidency (2000-2004), whose indictment in the case of the thousands of tons of the pollutant rock-ash dumped in the port towns Arroyo Barril, in Samana (northeast), and in Manzanillo, Montecristi (northwest) is still pending, also won a Deputy seat, for the Capital’s 2nd Congressional District.

The new lawmakers will join in the Chamber of Deputies, as of August 16, their colleague from La Vega (central) Radhamés Ramos Garcia, convicted of people trafficking, and whose prison sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court on March 2, 2005. He was convicted of smuggling 14 Chinese citizens  into the country in 2002, when he was consul in Cape Haitian.
