DominicanToday.com - The moneychanger Julio Cesar Solano was gunned down Tuesday afternoon which according to reports in the vicinity, was the result of a family feud.
Solano was shot four times while sitting inside the business around 2 p.m. by a man who arrived on a motorcycle accompanied by another unidentified assailant at the Casa de Cambio Solano, located at the streets Saltitopa almost corner Valverde. The gunmen fled on a motorcycle.
The deceased’s brother, Manuel Antonio Solano, accused Carlos Julio Solano -the victim’s cousin- of sending the hired killers to "to scare," his relative with whom he the legal conflicts over the ownership of the business.
In November 2009, the Office of the National District Prosecutor confiscated RD$50 million from that exchange agency, through which Carlos Julio Solano is allegedly part of the ring headed by Manuel Emilio Mesa Beltré (El Gringo), accused of drug trafficking.
Police spokesman Maximo Aybar said Carlos Julio Solano turned himself over to the authorities, and that six other people for were detained for questioning.
