New York.- The Dominican Rafael Nuñez, 35, who in 2008 shot and injured two Police agents during a shootout in a subway in Queens, was sentenced to 55 years prison by the State Supreme Court on Thursday.
Justice Barry Kron, when he read the sentence to the Dominican, who had been deported for drug trafficking and reentered the United States illegally, told him that he acted with the deliberate intention to end the police agents’ lives.
Nuñez confronted police after passing through the station’s turnstile with a student card, but was detected by passenger vigilance, and grabbed one of the agents’ pistol and shot at point blank when he was being handcuffed, injuring another who went to assist.
“You are responsible for the actions you took,” Nuñez was told before being whisked off to prison, and won’t be eligible for parole until he’s 80.
Dominican Watchdog Note: Good work judge, this one might not come back again when deported at the age of 80. U.S. should do the same to the rest of them instead of deporting them and arresting them over and over again!
