Dominican national used personal ID of dead U.S. man for decade U.S. District Judge John Antoon, II sentenced Youk Antonio Deschamps (48, Winter Springs) to 30 months in federal prison for making a false statement on a United States Passport Application and for aggravated identity theft. The court also ordered Deschamps to serve a 2-year term of supervised release, after he completes his prison sentence. Deschamps pled guilty on March 12, 2012.


According to court documents, Deschamps, a national and citizen of the Dominican Republic, entered the United States at some unknown time. Over the last ten years, he has used the identity of a deceased true person. Deschamps claimed to be a United States citizen, using the deceased’s birth date, birth place, and social security number for the purpose of obtaining a U.S. Passport and Florida Driver’s License. Under the alias of the deceased’s name, Deschamps was convicted on September 21, 2011, in the Circuit Court of Orange County, Florida for possession of a controlled substance (Marijuana) and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony. While living in New York, Deschamps also used the identities of other individuals to apply for a Florida Driver’s License.

This case was jointly investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigation’s (ICE HSI) Document and Benefit Fraud Task Force (DBFTF). Agencies participating in the DBFTF include HSI, U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Florida Highway Patrol, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This case was prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Myrna Amelia Mesa..
