Dominican doctor alter fingerprints in US on deported illegal immigrants
www.bostonglobe.com  A doctor and his assistant, both of the Dominican Republic, were arrested in Boston Saturday on charges of conspiring to perform fingerprint-altering surgery on previously deported individuals, US Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz’s office announced Monday. Danilo Montero Ramirez, 61, and Teresa Araujo Martinez, 40, arrived last week and allegedly arranged to perform the altering surgery for $4,500 per person, Ortiz’s office said. Authorities arrested the doctor and the assistant Nov. 16, seizing surgical equipment and a large quantity of pain medication. Montero Ramirez and Araujo Martinez face charges of conspiracy to harbor illegal immigrants and conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, said Ortiz’s office.
