Dengue Fever Increase in the Dominican Republic, 45 Deaths
 

(Prensa Latina) Dengue affected  6 999 people during the 2012 in the Dominican Republic and caused the death of 45, reported today Deputy Health Minister Rafael Schiffino.
 

According to the official, in the last four weeks there have been 340 cases and two deaths, and from 2010 to the current date those numbers are located on 27 000 721 and 412, respectively.

Schiffino announced that on Tuesday began here opeations, that will spread throughout the country, to curb the negative impact of this disease, which transmitting agent is the mosquito Aedes aegypti.

Technical and health professionals, Red Cross volunteers, students of primary and secondary education, university, military, neighborhood and municipalities councils are involved in these efforts, he said.

He stated that the works against the disease will be made permanently in the country and will be the responsibility of the provincial and municipal health offices.
