The Dominican Alliance Against Corruption (Adocco) yesterday demanded that elected officials accompany their financial statements with the corresponding certification of their assets.
It affirms that it’s a recurrent practice that elected officials declare assets they don’t own, but plan to acquire during their tenure.
“We suggest that the Anti-corruption Department ask the officials whom began their exercise on August 16 to present the certifications issued by the Registrar of Titles that avail the real property declared, with the acquisition date; and the INternatl Taxes Agency (DGII), on personal property (motor vehicles) and shares that they own in companies, as well as the taxes paid on income.”
Adocco also called on the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (Fedomu) to promote among its members the timely presentation of their financial statements as a way to transparently begin their tenure which will last six years.
