Colonel John Volquez, commander of the Police in Boca Chica, mounted a search operation for Santana, who was captured and taken to the headquarters of that body.  The detainee is a farmer born in El Pantanal, Cotuí, and had been living in El Manantial, El Valiente, for six months and was not well known by the locals.

While imprisoned in a cell, Santana tried to hang himself with a polo shirt he was wearing, but police intervened and prevented him from committing suicide.  As a precaution Colonel Volquez moved him to regional detention in  Santo Domingo Este, Invivienda where detained until it is delivered to the Prosecutor of Santo Domingo.


The murder of the Haitian girl filled the residents of El Valiente (a community located north of Highway of the Americas, a few miles from Boca Chica) with amazement and indignation.  Police officials are investigating the reasons why the prisoner came from Cotuí to go into this small semi rural community of Boca Chica.
